Leverage on gold is set by the company you are actually onboarded to, not by the brand. A broker can offer 1:1000 through one entity and a fraction of that through another, for the same instrument on the same day.
It caps silver at 400:1, Swiss franc pairs at 400:1 and several others by name, and lists gold in none of them, so gold appears to follow the account ladder — 1000:1 up to $40,000 of equity, falling to 100:1 above $200,000 — but XM never says so. We do not fill that in.
“XM's margin requirements and leverage are based on the total equity in your account(s) as described below: 1:1 to 1000:1 | $5 - $40,000; 1:1 to 500:1 | $40,001 - $80,000; 1:1 to 200:1 | $80,001 - $200,000; 1:1 to 100:1 | $200,001 +”
“The margin requirement for Gold and Silver is calculated like this: Lots * Contract Size * Market Price / Leverage. For all account types, the leverage is capped at 400:1 for Silver.”

XM advertises withdrawals as free, and then reserves the right to charge in its own client agreement where a deposit was not traded. Both the claim and the clause are quoted below.
XM states it charges no deposit/withdrawal fees and covers transaction fees both ways, with one carve-out: it does not cover bank-wire transfer fees on deposits under USD 200. Separately, both Client Agreements reserve XM's right to impose withdrawal fees at any time.
“We do not charge any fees for our deposit/withdrawal options. For instance, if you deposit USD 100 by Moneybookers and then withdraw USD 100, you will see the full amount of USD 100 in your Moneybookers account as we cover all transaction fees both ways for you. This also applies to all credit/debit card deposits. For deposits/withdrawals via international bank wire transfer, XM covers all transfer fees imposed by our banks, with the exception of deposits amounting to less than 200 USD (or equivalent denomination).”
“59.4 We reserve the right to impose withdrawal limits and withdrawal fees in our systems, at any time.”
“65.3 If you give an instruction to withdraw funds from your Account, we will reduce the requested funds immediately from your Account balance and shall use our best efforts to process the specified withdrawal request within one (1) Business Day following the day on which the withdrawal request has been accepted”
“We offer a wide range of payment options for deposits/withdrawals: by multiple credit cards, multiple electronic payment methods, bank wire transfer, local bank transfer, and other payment methods.”
“The minimum deposit or withdrawal amount for a Shares account is $10,000. For all other account types, the minimum is $5.”
“72.1 In the event that there is no activity (trading/withdrawals/deposits/internal transfer) in all of your Accounts for a set period of at least ninety (90) calendar days, we will regard your Accounts to be dormant... 72.3 Dormant Accounts will be charged with a monthly dormant fee of USD 5 (five United States Dollars) or the full amount of the free balance in the Account, if the free balance is less than USD 5. There will be no charge if the free balance in the Account is zero.”
“When opening an XM account, we only ask that you provide a Proof of Identity (POI). This can be a colour copy of any official documentation issued by a recognised authority. This includes passports (to be valid for at least 6 months), driver's licenses, and identity cards.”

Trustpilot has hidden this company's rating for a breach of its guidelines and says it removed fake reviews.
This score is about getting paid, not about trading rules. It is never averaged into the Freedom Score: a firm can have the most generous rules on the board and still be the hardest place to get money out of.
“This company's rating is unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines. We've removed a number of fake reviews for this company.”
The review count is still shown — 3,115 — but there is no score. Any star rating you see quoted for XM elsewhere predates the penalty.
XM has three Trustpilot profiles telling three different stories. This one, on its main domain, has its rating hidden. A separate claimed profile on xmglobal.com shows 1.2 out of 5 from 540 reviews with no notice at all, and a third is nearly empty. Any single XM score is a choice of which URL to quote.
Every figure comes from XM’s own pages, quoted above with a link. Tracked since 20 Sep 2026.
XM rebuilt both of its sites in late 2024 so its gold tables are drawn in the browser, and both live sites block us, so the last gold spreads and swaps XM published in its own HTML date from 2024. Every one of them is labelled with that on the figure itself. XM is also split in two: xm.com is now the EEA site under the Cyprus entity, and the global offering is at xmglobal.com under XM Global Limited in Belize.
